Hundreds to run, walk through Charleston in PJs
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Hundreds of people are scheduled to run and walk through the streets of Charleston in their pajamas, braving a November chill to raise money for cancer research.
The five-kilometer Pajama Run and Walk is slated for Saturday. The run and walk is in its fourth year.
The event is sponsored by internet and cable TV provider Knology of Charleston, and benefits the Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Previous pajama runs have raised more than $30,000 for research into ovarian, testicular, prostate, bladder and colon cancers. Organizers hope to surpass the three-year total by raising $40,000 this weekend.
