Cops: SC man arrested, fired gun after NASCAR race

CLOVER, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a man who fired his gun to celebrate Tony Stewart’s NASCAR Sprint Cup title has been arrested.

York County deputies said officers first warned 46-year-old Brian Kevin Young to stop firing his weapon at his Clover home Sunday night because he had been drinking and it was dark.

A few minutes later, neighbors called about more shots fired and deputies say Young came to the door with a beer in his hand and admitted he shot his gun again to celebrate Stewart’s win.

Young was charged with public disorderly conduct, damage to property and use of a firearm under the influence. He remained at the York County jail Monday afternoon and it wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
