Graham sets up skating rink without the ice

GRAHAM, N.C. (AP) — The skating rink is ready for a holiday special in Graham; everything except the ice is in place.

No ice will be needed.

The Time-News of Burlington reported that workers with the Graham Recreation and Parks Department on Tuesday snapped together 56 while plastic panels to create a synthetic ice rink in the parking lot of the Alamance Children’s Museum.

The 30-by-50 foot rink was rented from Ice Rink Engineering of Greenville, S.C., for the “Fire & Ice: A Holiday Experience” offering by the museum.

People will be able to rent either figure skates or hockey skates for $7 for a 90-minute skating experience.

The proceeds will go to the Children’s Museum.

The rink will operate from Saturday until Dec. 10.
