DHEC: 1,109 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, 31 additional deaths in SC
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control released the state’s latest coronavirus numbers as of Sunday.
DHEC reports 1,109 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 31 additional deaths in South Carolina. This brings the state’s total number of confirmed cases to 427,763 with 7,180 total deaths.

DHEC says they received 24,556 molecular test results from the latest testing period, which produced a percent positive rate of 6.5%.
According to the department, 651,113 total doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered in the Palmetto State so far.
On Monday, DHEC announced that they will begin providing data regarding the age group, gender, race and ethnicity of those who have received the vaccine in South Carolina. This data is available on DHEC’s vaccination dashboard. DHEC says the data is subject to change and is based off the information that providers record. Some vaccine recipients may choose to withhold some information which can affect the data presented.
