Missing SC teen found safe at NC Occupy protest
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A 15-year-old from South Carolina with a medical condition who disappeared from his home on Thanksgiving has been found safe in Asheville.
City police say the boy was found Tuesday with protesters at the local Occupy encampment.
Asheville police say the teen has Asperger’s Syndrome, and that his family had been looking for him since Thanksgiving. Because he likes art and is sympathetic toward homeless people, some of his relatives traveled to Asheville to hand out flyers with his picture on it.
A security officer at city hall had one of the flyers and spotted the boy with the protesters. Police arrived and reunited the teen with his aunt and uncle, who plan to take him home to Simpsonville, S.C.
