Boeing 787 to be tested in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Boeing plans to conduct some test flights of its new 787 jetliner at the Myrtle Beach International Airport next week.

The airport announced that the flights will be conducted Tuesday. The airport was selected in part because of the runway size and instrumentation at the airport.

The 787 went into service earlier this year.

The jets are being built in the Pacific Northwest as well as at a $750 million manufacturing plant in North Charleston that opened last summer. The North Charleston plant represents the single largest industrial investment in South Carolina history.
