DHEC to start offering Johnson & Johnson vaccine at Columbia Place Mall on Thursday

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control is changing the vaccine it will offer at the Columbia Place Mall. Starting this Thursday, only the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available instead of Pfizer’s shot. Officials say they will be offering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine through June 9.

You can get your vaccine from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Community Vaccination Center at Columbia Place Mall. No appointment, insurance, or identification is required.

“We can’t say enough about the local, state, and federal partners who have made the CVC site such a success. Thanks to their work, we have made significant progress through this collaborative effort,” said Dr. Edward Simmer, DHEC Director. “The Community Vaccination Center has served a huge role in keeping South Carolinians safe and will continue that effort with the Janssen vaccine during the site’s final two weeks of service. We encourage all eligible residents to roll up their sleeve and get their shot.”

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be available to anyone 18 and older. DHEC says that kids eligible to be vaccinated and want to get their shot at the CVC needs to do so Tuesday or Wednesday when they can get the Pfizer vaccine as well as receive assistance in setting up a second appointment.
