82-year-old drives car into Bluffton lake

BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of an 82-year-old Bluffton man who drove his car into a lake.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports (http://bit.ly/vMP1jb) that the body of Le Roy Garner was pulled from the lake Wednesday afternoon. His body has been sent to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for an autopsy.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office said Garner was the only one in the car and there were no signs of foul play.

A man who saw the car rolling into the lake said he shouted at Garner but the driver did not respond.
