Coastal Carolina football employee arrested
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — A longtime football equipment coordinator for Coastal Carolina University is facing charges for allegedly forging signatures for meal vouchers of fellow staff members on road trips.
Prosecutors say 32-year-old Wilson Allan Beaver of Myrtle Beach forged per diem vouchers that were to be used for meals for certain staff members on road trips for the football team. Authorities say the charges are based from this year’s games, and it’s unclear how long Beaver may have been forging other staff members’ signatures.
University officials say they discovered the issues during an internal audit.
Records show Beaver was released from jail Friday and is facing 11 charges of forgery less than $5,000 and five charges of embezzlement of public funds. Beaver’s attorney says his client will plead not guilty.
