SC ex-councilman gets 18 months for mortgage lie
ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Former York County Councilman Paul Lindemann has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to lying on a mortgage application.
The Herald of Rock Hill reported (http://bit.ly/vELNFc ) the 32-year-old Lindermann was sentenced in U.S. District Court. Lindemann claimed a monthly income of nearly $36,000 to qualify for a loan of nearly $1 million from RBC Centura Bank. Prosecutors said his actual income was much less.
Lindemann defaulted and the bank foreclosed on the property. Lindemann was sued by a woman who had invested money in the house, which he planned to repair and resell, but the deal went awry. The court ordered him to repay the woman.
Lindemann was elected in 2006 and served four years on the council. He lost his re-election bid last year.
