Spartanburg sheriff hosts ‘Shop with a Cop’ event

BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. (AP) — About 35 children from Spartanburg County are embarking on a shopping spree for holiday gifts that they otherwise couldn’t afford through the annual “Shop with a Cop” event.

County Sheriff Chuck Wright is hosting Wednesday’s shopping expedition at a Walmart in Boiling Springs.

Sheriff’s deputies, victim advocates and local firefighters will assist the children as they pick out a toy for themselves and shop for gifts for family members. The children represent 14 families and were chosen by victim advocates and school resource officers.

The event is being paid for through donations from individuals and local businesses.
