SLED: Allendale Court Clerk Stole Fine Money

ALLENDALE, S.C. (AP) – State agents say a municipal court clerk in Allendale stole nearly $8,900 in fines and fees for her own use. The State Law Enforcement Division said 25-year-old Nicole Washington was arrested Tuesday and charged with misconduct in office and embezzlement of public funds. Allendale officials ordered an audit of court records after discovering money appeared to be missing from July to September in city court. It wasn’t clear if Washington had an attorney.
