Judge rules for creditors of Roberts Broadcasting

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Creditors in a bankruptcy case involving Roberts Broadcasting Co. will be able to sue other businesses belonging to the company’s owners.

St. Louis-based Roberts Broadcasting is owned by Michael and Steven Roberts, who filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October with debts totaling more than $4 million.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/tNTgMY) that several real estate and hotel businesses owned by the Roberts brothers were not included in the bankruptcy.

Creditors in the bankruptcy case filed a petition last week asking to sue those other companies to recover money that had been transferred from the four TV stations.

After a hearing Wednesday in St. Louis, a judge approved the creditors’ request.

Roberts Broadcasting owns WRBU-Channel 46 in St. Louis, and stations in Columbia, S.C., Jackson, Miss.; and Evansville, Ind.
