Teacher accused in third county of sex with teen

CHESTERFIELD, S.C. (AP) — A middle school teacher is facing charges of having sex with a student in a third South Carolina county.

The State Law Enforcement Division said Thursday that 36-year-old Carole Ann Hope is charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor and lewd act upon a child for two encounters earlier this year with a 14-year-old on a dirt road near Pageland Central High.

Investigators have said Hope also had sex with the teen at her Darlington County home and at a hotel in Horry County between March 1 and Oct. 31.

SLED says Hope met the teen while teaching at New Heights Middle School in Jefferson.

It wasn’t clear if Hope had an attorney.
