US Marshals arrest man in connection with NH rape
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — U.S. Marshals have arrested a South Carolina man accused of raping a woman in a New Hampshire hotel.
Thirty-eight-year-old Edward Lee Hausgen was arrested at his home in Isle of Palms, S.C., on Tuesday. He’s been charged with three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, criminal restraint, and other charges.
Investigators said the charges allege that Hausgen used physical force to overpower the woman, who was held against her will in a Hilton Garden Inn Hotel room in Portsmouth on Dec. 9. Police said he knew her.
Police said the woman was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment.
Officers said Hausgen went back to South Carolina the next day. He is being held awaiting extradition to New Hampshire.
