Spartanburg deputy dragged during stop
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputies say an officer has been dragged by a man in a car.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported (http://bit.ly/vd7FAk) 31-year-old Christian A. Barnette of Boiling Springs is charged with aggravated assault and battery and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon.
Deputies were called to a possible break-in at a church around 11 p.m. Saturday.
Officers detained three people who apparently had called someone for a ride. Officers say Barnette arrived and officers recognized he was wanted on bench warrants.
Deputies say Barnette drove forward as the deputy spoke to him and the officer was dragged briefly before falling off the side of the car. The officer was bleeding but was not seriously injured. The officer’s name was not released.
It wasn’t clear if Barnette has an attorney.
