Last Minute Shoppers
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “Just running around and picking up all this stuff and things you forget and batteries and all that crazy stuff,” says Brittany Benjamin. With just 30 hours left to shop, Harbison is in gridlock. Shoppers are on a mission. “Toys for my eleven year old,” says Sherry Gregory. “Couple of last minute stocking stuffers,” says one shopper. Others are trying to get the best deal at the last minute and they came with a game plan and back up to do it. “Piece it out, piece meal it, you can’t do it all at one time, you’ll go crazy, ” says James Breedan. “I have a list for toys r’ us, then it’s to the next store to get what I need there and then the next store,” says Gregory. “Santa Claus and I worked it all out,” says Breedan. “I have help,” says Gregory. “Phone calls, you know, emails, texts everything’s done,” says Breedan. “Giving her great ideas on what to shop for, places to go and to hurry her up,” says one of Gregory’s helpers. “He’s helping a little bit, he’s picking out gifts for his cousins and grandparents and stuff,” says Benjamin. Toys R’ Us is also helping, the store will be open around the clock, they will not close until 10:00 a.m. Christmas Eve morning. And while some take this shopping day very serious, others well, they’re just happy to be here. “I’m not worried about it all, it’s kind of excting,” says one shopper. So, from now until tomorrow it’s a race against the clock. “Five kids, a grandbaby to buy for, it’s a little nerve racking,” says Gregory. But these shoppers say they will come out with the win. “It’s easy, if you know what you want it’s easy,” says Breedan. However, they do have some advice for others who are thinking about doing some last minute shopping. “If you don’t have to, don’t do it,” says Breedan.
