Woman won’t be charged for shooting homeless man

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a Spartanburg woman who shot a homeless man in the face who was in the vacant home she was trying to sell won’t be charged because she was inside her property trying to defend her husband.

Police said late Friday that the man inside the home will face a felony charge of unlawful entry.

Investigators say a real estate agent found 31-year-old Gregory Wells inside Tuesday. She called the homeowners, and Wells met them at the door.

Police say the husband asked Wells what he was doing inside and pulled a gun. The wife also had a gun and shot Wells after the homeless man grabbed her husband’s arm.

Authorities say Wells is in good condition at the hospital and will be arrested after he is released.
