SC boy empties savings to help needy family
KNIGHTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Eight-year-old Fisher Cook of the Dorchester County community of Knightsville just wanted to help.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Thursday he emptied the $300 from his savings account to help a family of six that recently lost their mobile home in a fire.
That money and money contributed from other members of his family provided $1,000 to buy Christmas presents for the fire victims which included three children.
Fisher said for all his life he has been saving the money he gets for doing chores and getting good grades.
He said he wasn’t saving for anything in particular and when he heard about the fire he decided to give it away.
