SC Woman Gets 3 Years for Stealing $800K
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ A 53-year-old woman who admitted she stole more than $800,000 from a small tool and die business in Greenville has been ordered to spend more than three years in prison. Prosecutors said Paula Hendricks pleaded guilty Tuesday to breach of trust and tax fraud. She was sentenced to seven years in prison, but that will be suspended to 42 months behind bars as long as she completes five years of probation. Authorities say Hendricks was bookkeeper at FW Tool and Die Works and wrote 543 unauthorized checks to herself, her business and others over eight years totaling $802,000. An investigation began in 2010 after discrepancies were found in bookkeeping and accounting.
