SC officer shot; injuries not life-threatening
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — North Charleston authorities say they’re searching for a man who shot a police officer who tried to approach the man after a theft.
The (Charleston) Post and Courier reported (http://bit.ly/w1ty11) that the shooting occurred about 3 a.m. Saturday at the El Cheapo Gas Station. Police spokesman Spencer Pryor says the officer is being treated at a hospital for injuries that aren’t life-threatening.
Pryor says police went to home where a theft was reported, and the victim gave officers a description of the man who robbed him. Officers then saw a man matching the description at the gas station.
Pryor says the officer approached the suspect, who opened fire on the officer, striking him twice. The officer didn’t fire his weapon.
