3 charged in shooting of N Charleston officer

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Three people have been charged in the shooting of a North Charleston police officer now facing non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say Timothy Darrell Johnson of North Charleston was arrested Saturday and faces multiple charges including attempted murder of a police officer and weapons possession.

Creiton Antonio Patterson and Dontreia Antwon Durantare have been charged with accessory after the fact of attempted murder of a police officer.

Police say they were called to a home just before 3 a.m. Saturday for a reported theft. Shortly thereafter, an officer approached one of the suspects at a gas station and was shot by the man twice.

A spokesman for the police department says the officer did not fire his weapon.
