Held Hostage at a Local Bank

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) _ Investigators say they are still trying to figure out why a man took 15 hostages at an Orangeburg bank. Police were called to a South Carolina Bank and Trust branch late Tuesday afternoon on a report that a man had three knives and was holding 15 people hostage. Authorities say the standoff lasted about 45 minutes before an officer was able to shoot the suspect with a Taser and rescue the hostages. No serious injuries were reported. Investigators say 25-year-old Elvis Prince is charged with kidnapping, but may not be charged with robbery because it doesn’t appear he ever demanded money inside the bank. Prince is being held in the Orangeburg County jail without bond. It was not clear if he had an attorney
