COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) –“South Carolina has a big say in who our nominee is going to be,” says former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. “Strong, conviction, consistent, conservative,” says former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum. “Who can beat Barack Obama,” says former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. “If they believe in liberty, limited government, and a prosperous economy and peace, they would vote for me,” says Congressman Ron Paul. “Who is tough enough to stand up against him and the importance of having a genuine conservative,” says Gingrich. “Given the challenges that exist in our economy, I think people want to have someone who understands jobs and understands what it takes to get jobs here,” says Romney. “This state is just tailor made and has been for for a long time to attract good manufacturing jobs,” says Santorum. “I don’t mind the rich if they make an honest living,” says Paul. “After 15 debates, I am the one person who can debate Obama and be tough enough and clear enough to win the election,” says Gingrich. “The President has failed to come forward with any plan to secure social security long term,” says Romney. “You can’t have a strong economy unless you have strong families.” “How can anybody turn down the Golden Rule?,” says Santorum. “He has not come forward with a plan for Medicare and he hasn’t produced a budget that’s anywhere near balanced,” says Romney. “The gap between Obamacare and Romneycare isn’t very big, the gap between Gingrich and Obama is huge,” says Gingrich. “Governments have failed and they need to understand governmnents have failed because they bailed out all the rich,” says Paul. “Our tax plan triples the child deduction and makes it a lot more, well family friendly,” says Santorum. “If Obama gets re-elected it will be a disaster for this country,” says Gingrich. “This election is about freedom, it’s about whether we’re a country that’s going to be a top down, government controlled society like most of the country’s in Europe,” says Santorum. “What we have to do is protect the liberties of all people, equally,” says Paul. “This campaign is bigger than just one person, meaning President Obama this is about the soul of America,” says Romney. The latest ARG Poll shows Newt Gingrich has taken the lead with 33%, Mitt Romne is a close second with 32 % followed by Ron Paul with 19% and Rick Santorum with 9%.
