Criminal Background Wiped Clean via Program
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office is offering expungement workshops to help people rid themselves of their criminal records, if applicable. Expungement is the court ordered process in which the legal record of an arrest or conviction is erased from a person’s criminal background. All crimes cannot be expunged. However, misdemeanors, dismissed charges and cases where a person was charged but not convicted can be legally removed from their record. The Fifth Circuit Expungement Workshop, serving Richland and Kershaw counties, will be held Saturday, February 4, at Columbia Place Mall (second level) from 10:00am to 2:00pm. those who are interested will have a chance to talk to law enforcement officials and elected officials about their criminal background and whether they qualify to have certain items expunged or erased. For more information, you can call 803-576-1802. The February 4 workshop is the first in a series of expungement workshops to be conducted quarterly throughout Richland and Kershaw counties.
