Inmate found dead at Horry County jail
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at the Horry County jail.
County spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier says 49-year-old Kenneth Randy Norman was found unresponsive in a holding cell at around 3 p.m. Saturday.
Medical personnel started CPR and called emergency responders. Norman was later pronounced dead at a hospital, and an autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.
Records show Norman was booked into the jail at around 4 a.m. Saturday on a charge of public intoxication. He was listed as homeless and had been awaiting a bond hearing.
State police officers are investigating the death, but a preliminary internal investigation showed that officers had found no evidence of foul play.
