Arrest made in shooting death of man in Beaufort

BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) — Police have arrested and charged a man with murder in the weekend death of a man in Beaufort.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports (http://bit.ly/xVp5dm ) 29-year-old David Legree of St. Helena Island has been charged in the shooting death Saturday of 48-year-old Michael Edward Smith.

Authorities say there appears to be a connection between the shooter and the victim and the slaying was not a random act.

It was not clear whether Legree had an attorney.
