2 SC congressman returning unused office funds

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Two South Carolina congressmen are joining their colleagues in returning unused money from running their congressional offices to the government.

Jeff Duncan of South Carolina’s 3rd District and Mick Mulvaney from the 5th District were among those who sent a letter to Speaker John Boehner on Wednesday asking that the unused money be applied to reducing the national debt.

In all, eight members of Congress signed the letter and returned about $1.4 million in unused money from their congressional offices.

Duncan says he went to Congress to change things and one way he can do that is return unspent money and use it to pay down the debt.
