SC Police: Man held 5-year-old over aggressive dog
LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) — Police have arrested a Lancaster man who investigators say dangled a 5-year-old child over a pit bull after the child kicked dirt as his car and cursed at him.
A judge issued a warrant for third-degree assault and battery against 22-year-old Michael Chavis Jr. He was taken into custody late Wednesday morning.
Witnesses say Chavis became angry with the boy Sunday evening after dirt was kicked on his car. Police say the man picked the boy up, holding him near a chained, aggressive pit bull.
Chavis was also wanted for failing to appear in court on a different charge.
It was unclear if he has a lawyer.
