Spoleto Festival USA auction going high-tech

CHARLESON, S.C. (AP) — The Spoleto Festival USA auction is going high-tech.

Instead of the traditional silent auction, those attending Friday’s festivities in Charleston can go online and bid on items being offered in an online auction which continues through Feb. 12.

Items being offered this year include a concert starring Smokey Robinson and travel packages to such places as the Napa Valley, St. Kitts and Beijing.

The event features a private concert by jazz singer Nicole Henry.

The internationally known arts festival opens its 36th season in Charleston on May 25. The festival runs through June 10.
