Church, charity give away food in Atlantic Beach

ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C. (AP) — A church and a charity along the Grand Strand are teaming up to give food to the needy.

Strand Helping Hand and Barefoot Church will give the food to the first 200 needy people who show up at the Atlantic Beach Community Center after 1 p.m. Saturday.

Organizers of the event say they will offer a free lunch to everyone and other services will be available. Volunteers will also be at the community center to help needy families apply for benefits like food stamps and Medicaid.
