Autopsy: Alcohol led to SC football player’s death
CLINTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a Presbyterian College football player died after he stopped breathing due to alcohol intoxication.
Laurens County Coroner Nick Nichols said Monday he has ruled the death of 21-year-old Kyle Allen of St. Augustine, Fla., accidental.
School spokesman Hal Milam says another student found Allen unconscious in a fraternity house early Sunday. Allen was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The linebacker transferred from Georgia Southern in 2010 and was redshirted. His teammates were told of his death at a team meeting Sunday morning.
The business administration major played in all 11 games in 2011.
