Blacksburg man dies in mobile home fire

BLACKSBURG, S.C. (AP) — A Blacksburg man has died in a fire at his mobile home and authorities say the blaze is suspicious.

The fire was reported shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler says 51-year-old Randall Morris died from smoke inhalation and burns. His body was found on his knees just two feet from his back door.

Fowler says neighbors heard an explosion and saw fire coming from the home.

A woman reported her cat also died in the fire.

The sheriff’s office says the fire is suspicious. The fire is being investigated by the coroner’s office, the sheriff’s department and the State Law Enforcement Division.
