8 Clemson teams finish with B average last fall

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson’s men’s basketball team finished with a grade-point average higher than 3.0 for the first time since the school began tracking athletic grades.

Data released Wednesday by the university’s Office of Institutional Research showed coach Brad Brownell’s basketball team posted a 3.13 GPA and was among eight Tiger squads who finished at 3.0 or higher during the fall semester.

Clemson’s Atlantic Coast Conference championship football team ended with a 2.49 average. While that was the lowest among the athletic department’s 17 teams, it was up slightly from the 2.45 GPA it posted last spring.

Women’s swimming led the way with 3.55 GPA.
