Darlington man pleads guilty to illegal gambling

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a Darlington man has pleaded guilty to operating an illegal gambling business at his home.

U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles says 45-year-old Jammy Miller pleaded guilty in Florence on Thursday. Miller will be sentenced later and faces up to five years in prison.

Nettles says authorities searched Miller’s home last year, seizing cars, gambling paraphernalia and about $185,000 in cash. About two dozen people were also arrested for illegal gambling and told authorities about Miller’s operation.

As part of the plea deal, Nettles says Miller has agreed to forfeit several vehicles, computers and more than $220,000 in cash.
