Knotts holding annual skating party for students
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A West Columbia lawmaker is holding an annual party to honor local students who are doing well in school.
State Sen. Jake Knotts is holding a roller skate party Saturday for 23 elementary schools in Lexington County.
Knotts has been sponsoring the party for 18 years. Students who make academic honor roll for nine weeks get a personal invitation from the Republican, and more than 300 students attend each year.
Knotts coordinates skate races and gives out prizes and refreshments. The party is scheduled for Three Fountains Skating Rink in Lexington County.
