Cops hope sketch will help ID woman found in SC

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Investigators hope a new sketch will help identify a woman whose remains were found last fall under a couch in Spartanburg County.

On Saturday the Spartanburg County coroner released an image created by a forensic artist with the State Law Enforcement Division.

Teens looking for scrap metal in the Startex area in October found the remains after they turned over a couch and found a tarp and skeletal remains. Authorities said it appeared the remains had been at the same place for at least five years.

Authorities say the remains belong to a white woman who was between 40 and 50 years old when she died. DNA tests are still pending, and investigators are treating the death as a homicide
