Suspect wanted for Circle K shooting that killed 1 & injured another in Sumter

SUMTER CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Sumter police are searching for a man wanted for a fatal shooting on Tuesday.

Authorities are looking for Justice Peoples, 23, of Porter Street.

Police say the shooting happened after 9:45 p.m. in the parking lot of Circle K at Broad Street and Alice Drive.

According to investigators, Peoples got a ride to the store to meet with one of the victims before an argument began and shots were fired.

Officials say Tyrell Scarborough, 21, was found dead at the scene, while a 20-year-old woman, who was shot, was taken to a hospital where she’s expected to recover.

Authorities say a witness with a child were both shot at but neither of them were hurt.

Peoples should be considered armed and dangerous.
