WATCH: Ridge View holds off Fort Dorchester for 5A State Championship

AIKEN, S.C. (WOLO) — In Yerrick Stoneman’s final game, his Ridge View Blazers did not disappoint.

The Blazers, led by the nation’s number one overall recruit GG Jackson, demolished Fort Dorchester, 65-57, Thursday night at USC Aiken for their first 5A State Championship in school history.

Ridge View became a consistent contender in 4A ball, winning state titles in 2018, 2019 and 2020 before moving to 5A.

Stoneman, who’s leaving the school to become the new head coach at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, adds to his already sterling legacy, leaving Ridge View with four state championships.

“All the players that came, they believed in my philosophy,” Stoneman said. “And we came together as one to accomplish a lot of good things.”

Ridge View is one of seven midlands schools competing for state basketball championships this week.
