Strong winds expected across much of SC

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Strong winds are expected across much of South Carolina.

The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories and lake wind advisories for most of the state with the exception of extreme southern South Carolina through late Monday.

Winds will generally be steady out of the west at 25 to 30 mph with some gusts over 40 mph.

Forecasters warn the winds may bring scattered power outages across the state because the soil is wet from heavy weekend rains and trees may topple onto power lines.

The winds are expected to subside Monday night.
