Fort Jackson hosting job fair for military

FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) — The Army’s largest training post is playing host to a job fair designed to connect employers with members of the local military community.
Fort Jackson spokesman Pat Jones says Tuesday’s event is dubbed “Hiring Our Heroes.” It’s scheduled to start at 10 a.m. at the Solomon Center.
The event is being organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
Columbia chapter president Ike McLeese says more than 80 employers were slated to attend.
The event is open to active duty service members seeking employment after they leave the service. It also includes Reserve and National Guard service members, military retirees, veterans, Department of Defense civilian workers and their families seeking information about job openings.
