Teacher Sex Charge

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) _ A teaching assistant from Cayce has been charged with having sex with one of his students while in Mount Pleasant for the Special Olympics. Twenty-nine-year-old Cornelius Davis is a special education teaching assistant at Brookland-Cayce High School and is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct. A police report says Davis was traveling as a counselor and basketball coach for Special Olympics. The girl was a Special Olympics participant. Police say they were called to a hotel Sunday by the girl’s mother, who reported her daughter told her she had sex with her teacher. Her age was not released. The report says the girl told a nurse she had sex with the suspect in Cayce on Thursday and Friday in Mount Pleasant. It was not clear if Davis has a lawyer.
