NRA president scheduled to speak at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The president of the National Rifle Association is scheduled to speak at The Citadel.

David Keene is slated to give a talk Wednesday on William F. Buckley, Jr. and conservatism. The talk is part of a course at the Charleston military college called the Conservative Intellectual Tradition in America.

Keene is an attorney, columnist and political activist. He got involved in politics in the 1960s as a political assistant to Vice President Spiro Agnew. He served as chairman of the American Conservative Union from 1984 until last year.
