No charges in Spartanburg stabbing death

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Prosecutors say no charges will be filed against a man who stabbed another man to death in Spartanburg last month.

Prosecutors told the Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported (http://bit.ly/A8pw1q) that the 72-year-old man appeared to act in self-defense.

Fifty-six-year-old Donnie Scott Cohen was stabbed in the chest Feb. 27 at the home where he and the older man lived.

Spartanburg Police Capt. Regina Nowak says there is no indication of anything other than self-defense.

Police say the two men had fought prior to the stabbing.

Officers found Cohen on the floor in a pool of blood. He died at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

The older man told officers that Cohen came at him with a knife and he took the knife from Cohen and stabbed him.
