Inmate in NC Leads Investigators to Body in SC

LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) – Authorities say an inmate jailed in Charlotte, N.C., after he was found driving a missing 87-year-old Pennsylvania man’s car has led investigators to a body in Lancaster County, S.C. Deputies said the body was found Monday and appeared to have been dead for several weeks. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the identity and cause of death. South Carolina investigators are working with officers from the Stroud Area Regional Police in Pennsylvania, who have been trying to find Joseph Devivo since Feb. 23. Authorities say 31-year-old Rico Herbert led them to the body. Police say he was arrested Feb. 25 in Charlotte driving Devivo’s car. He also had Devivo’s wallet. Herbert is being held on a fugitive warrant from Pennsylvania. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
