RCSD: Spring Valley HS student charged with bringing gun to school

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says 16-year-old is accused of bringing a gun to school. Authorities say the charges come after a loaded handgun was found in the student’s vehicle on Spring Valley High School’s campus.

According to investigators, an administrator was alerted and searched the student’s vehicle. Authorities say marijuana was also found in the vehicle.

Officials say no threats were made in regard to the weapon or school.

Deputies say the student is charged with possession of a weapon under 18, possession of a weapon on school grounds and simple possession of marijuana.
