2nd judge refuses to release police dash cam video

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — For the second time in March, a judge has refused to release video from a police dashboard camera requested by the media.

The latest refusal came in Beaufort County, where a 26-year-old Marine is charged with murder after authorities say he stole a fire truck and intentionally ran down a pedestrian.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head (http://bit.ly/zLtOvq ) reports that several media outlets asked for a copies of video made by dashboard cameras during the police chase under the state’s Freedom of Information Act.

The attorney for Kalvin Hunt successfully asked Circuit Court Judge Carmen Mullen to refuse to release the video because it could keep Hunt from getting a fair trial, and she upheld her ruling Thursday after media outlets said they didn’t get a chance to oppose it.
