Cops: Fight over hospital behavior leads to death
SPARTNABURG, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say an argument about how to behave in a hospital waiting room led a man to intentionally run down and kill his friend outside a Spartanburg hospital.
Spartanburg County deputies said 49-year-old Sandy Westmoreland was charged with murder Thursday, several hours after 53-year-old Michael Daniels was found dead just off a road near Mary Black Hospital.
Investigators say Westmoreland did not like how Daniels acted as he waited to see a doctor, and after Daniels walked out of the hospital, Westmoreland drove around until he saw his friend and ran over him.
Westmoreland is being held without bail at the Spartanburg County jail. Deputies say he does not have an attorney yet.
