Professor: Duley Sentence Should be ‘Harsh’
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) — A local professor believes a judge’s sentence should be harsh regarding an Orangeburg double murder case, in which the Midlands woman responsible confessed to murdering her two toddler children. Legal analyst and professor at Benedict College, Dr. Evaristus Obinyan, calls the murders ‘selfish’ and urges Circuit Judge Edgar Dickson to render the harshest sentence. Duley could spend 30 years to life in prison. Duley recently pleaded guilty to killing her two-year-old and 18-month-old children in August of 2010. She suffocated and strangled the boys with her own hands before rolling the car they are strapped in into the Edisto river. Shaquan Duley has one living daughter, who is in the care and custody of family. The judge is expected to render a sentence the week of March 26.
