Latta man arrested in Marion club shooting death

MARION, S.C. (AP) — Marion police have arrested a Latta man in the shooting death of a man at a nightclub earlier this week.

SCNow.com reported (http://bit.ly/GCbGSN) that 27-year-old Jermaine Calvin Pompey has been charged with murder in the shooting of 23-year-old Rondale McEachern of Dillon on Sunday morning.

McEachern’s body was found in a parking lot near the nightclub after the shooting. An autopsy is being performed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Witnesses said McEachern and others had been arguing in the club and were escorted out to the parking lot.

Pompey is being held in the Marion County jail on a murder charge. It was not clear if he has a lawyer.
